Course Outline

Improve your spoken and written English language skills and job seeking strategies to help you enter the Australian workforce.

This course focuses on building English skills for employment and covers the following areas:


  • Resume, job application and job interview skills

  • Career planning and job seeking strategies

  • Spoken English: Australian slang, negotiating and problem solving skills, phone calls, formal and informal language

  • Written English: writing formal and informal emails and letters, reports and other workplace texts

  • Australian workplace culture

  • Basic computer skills

Ideal for

This course is suitable for upper-intermediate/advanced students who wish to improve their oral and written communication skills as well as valuable job seeking strategies needed to find a job in Australia.

Outcomes

Units are selected from FSK20113 Certificate II in Skills for Vocational Pathways. Upon successful completion students will receive a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment with the following units:

  • Operate a personal computer (ICAICT101A)

  • Use strategies to respond to routine workplace problems (FSKLRG09)

  • Use routine strategies for work-related learning (FSKLRG11)

  • Use, communicate and search securely on the internet (ICAICT103A)

  • Comprehending and participating in interviews (SWEINT304A)

  • Write routine workplace texts (FSKWTG09)

  • Interact effectively with others at work (FSKOCM07)

All course materials will be provided. Just bring a notebook and a pen and be ready to learn in a friendly and relaxed environment.
