Sewing Workshop CityEast College

Course Outline

A hands-on sewing course to help you make cutting edge adults' or children garments. Work at your own speed and ability to produce a garment using a commercial pattern. Learn how to read and understand patterns and sewing instruction sheets, tips and tricks for good garment construction and fitting, gain or improve your cutting and sewing techniques (including straight, zig zag and stretch stiches) and have fun as you experiment with fabric layout and design. You just need enthusiasm – we’ll show you the rest.

Experienced sewers are welcome to join and work at their own pace on individual projects.

Other information

Please note - Alterations are not covered in this course.
Patterns are not sized in the same way as clothing bought in stores. You will need to take your measurements then check the measurements on the pattern to ensure you are buying the right size. Patterns are sized far smaller, generally – it’s not unusual for a size 8 person to need a size 14 or 16 paper pattern.
