Course Outline


Learn the basics of Auslan, the native language of the Australian Deaf Community. This course is perfect for people who are learning Auslan for the first time and who have no previous experience in using sign language. We will show how you can have fun communicating visually and without using spoken English.

This course is taught by both deaf and hearing teachers.

Outcomes

  • Develop basic communication skills in Auslan.
  • Learn how to use visual-gestural communication strategies i.e. non-verbal communication.
  • Be introduced to the deaf community.
  • Learn about effective ways of communicating with deaf people.
  • Learn how to fingerspell.
