Course Outline

Develop your Spanish skills with Spanish Level 4! This course is for those who have completed CECC Spanish Level 3 or have some knowledge of the language and would like to continue their Spanish studies. Our classes are run using action-based methodology and a communicative approach, which means in class, you will have plenty of opportunities to practice with your teachers and classmates, all the basic grammar, vocabulary, and knowledge about the Spanish Speaking Culture. To gain the most out of this course, it is suggested that students commit to 2 or more hours per week of independent study.

To enhance your experience, our Online Spanish classes are limited to ten participants using Zoom.

Ideal for...

Those who have completed CECC Spanish 103 or have some knowledge of the language and would like to continue their Spanish studies. Please refer to the course description of Spanish 103 for guidelines of the structures and level of proficiency advised for the level.

Outcomes

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

• Describe places in your suburb and city
• Request and give directions to move around and explore new places
• Describe travelling experiences and explore new cities and suburbs in the Spanish speaking world
• Have basic conversations about past experiences relevant to the present
• Talk about abilities and personality traits


Contents

(Units 8 & 9 of the textbook)

• Vocabulary related to places in the city
• Adjectives to describe cities and suburbs
• Structures and vocabulary to request and give directions
• Adjectives to describe personality in depth
• The verb ‘saber’ and ‘poder’ to talk about abilities
• Introduction to the Pretérito Perfecto (he viajado, hemos estudiado) to describe basic past experiences relevant to the present

Resources

The use of the textbook allows both teachers and students to follow the course content and program and it will be one of the main resources for the class, as well as homework and additional practice. You will be using the same textbook for the first 4 levels of Spanish.

About Your Tutor

Carolina is enthusiastic and innovative Spanish teacher with a passion for adult and tertiary education. A native speaker from Colombia, she holds a Masters Degree in Applied Linguistics of Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages.
She is a former president of the Spanish Teachers Association of South Australia and has taught Spanish at all levels to adults in both Australia and Colombia.
